I have an image which I'm using a blend mode to blend into a composition, although when using the same blend mode on another image on the same composition, the resuts are not the same.
Is there any way I can get the same blend result with one image as with another image on the same composition even if the lumonsity is different on different parts of the image which is what blend modes are based off.

Probably not. The pixels of the upper layer blend with the pixels on the lower layer. The pixels would have to be identical on both upper layers and the lower layers for this to happen.

The blending mode specified in the options bar controls how pixels in the image are affected by a painting or editing tool. Think in terms of the following colors when visualizing a blending mode’s effect:
The base color is the original color in the image.
The blend color is the color being applied with the painting or editing tool.
The result color is the color resulting from the blend.
You didn't show screen shots, so this is generic information.
