Blending mode menu stays selected

Hi, I have moved over to Windows10 from using Mac for 15 + years and have noticed some very frustrating differences with Photoshop. One in particular makes no sense, it may be my inexperience with Windows photoshop but why when you change the blending mode on your layer does it remain selected and you have to press enter or esc to deselect off the dropdown menu? Surely clicking your chosen blending mode is enough rather than double confirmation that I definitely definitely want a multiply layer for example. If there is a mastermind out there that knows how solve this then I'd be eternally grateful.

I heard once from Deke McClelland mouth it is Windows bug, not Photoshop. It is as it is as far as I can remember.

Need a fix to this ASAP adobe!! Ive been a Mac user for just under a decade and switched to PC and this is disrupting my work flow... Im glad I am not the only one

Am I missing something? As soon as I mouse click on a blending mode in the layer drop down, the mode changes and the dropdown closes. (Windows 10 PS 23.4.2)

You might be missing something Dave. Yes the dropdown closes, but the field remains highlighted in Windows. If you do nothing else, then you can use the arrow keys to navigate to other blending modes. Look for the pale blue highlight right after you choose the blending mode.

I just tested on my Windows laptop and it works as it always has on Windows.

Ah - yes, the field remains highlighted, and I can use the arrow tools, but it 'un-highlights' as soon as I start my next function i.e. I don't have to click twice on the next function, be that menu, tool, carry on brushing, adjustment layer, shortcut key or whatever. I just carry on as if it was not highlighted.

Actually I know a few people that are trying to convince Adobe to have the focus switch when a tool is changes or used. Hopefully they will do this.

I always thought this was a feature, not a bug 😉

I actually find it useful sometimes.

Fair enough. I just think doing something twice seems a little unnecessary. Maybe the arrow key point is why this 'feature' exists but but like I said above - if your mouse is there anyway you can just choose the blending mode that you want first off.

Some people don't always know first off and want to scroll through to see which will work best.

I agree, it is annoying. But it might be designed that way for the user to use the arrow keys to further change blend modes.

Yeh I know what you mean although I think that if your mouse is already over that way then it seems like switching over to using the arrow keys would just slow down your workflow.
