Blending modes in Photoshop 2023 not working

Hi, I have recently updated from PS2022 to PS2023 and the blending modes do not work.  I have tried reseting preferences, changing document mode from 16bit RGB to 8bit RGB and nothing works.  There is no longer a tab in Preferences/Performance to enable legacy compositing.  I'm wondering what else I should do?

I am using a Mac Book Pro 8-Core Intel Core i9 Processor, 32GB Ram and a Radeon Pro Vega 20 4GB graphics card.  System is 12.6

Correct answer Chuck Uebele

Since you reset your preferences, I would suggest reinstalling PS.
