Blur Gallery in CC2018

I 'm on Windows 10 and recently upgraded to Photoshop CC2018. Every time I try to use the Blur Gallery, Photoshop crashes. What's up with that? Anyone have a clue? My scratch drive has plenty of space, and there's plenty of RAM assigned. I'm swingin'

Blur Gallery uses the GPU, but will work — albeit not so quickly — without GPU assistance. Try turning off GPU acceleration in Preferences > Performance. If the system crashes stop, then look to see if there is a later driver for your video card, but do so from the card maker's website.

If you are not sure how to proceed, go Help > System info > Copy and paste to this thread so we can see what hardware etc you are using.

FYI, this is not solved. Not by a long shot. Also, btw, changes to preferences don't need a restart to take affect.

Blur Gallery uses the GPU, but will work — albeit not so quickly — without GPU assistance. Try turning off GPU acceleration in Preferences > Performance. If the system crashes stop, then look to see if there is a later driver for your video card, but do so from the card maker's website.

If you are not sure how to proceed, go Help > System info > Copy and paste to this thread so we can see what hardware etc you are using.

Thanks! That worked, but it makes no sense to me. I guess at this point, I should stop expecting Photoshop to make sense. Your reply is greatly appreciated!

Adobe add GPU acceleration to more functions with most updates, and it makes quite a difference to the performance. So long as you keep your video card driver up to date, it will behave itself in most situations. When that is not the case, you can try different settings for Drawing Mode in Preferences > Performance. You don't want to run with GPU acceleration turned off if you can avoid it, as it causes a significant performance hit doing so.
