Blurry border correction

When I create a border around rasterized text or a logo in Photoshop CS6 (e.g., Modify > Border - 44 pixels) and fill it the border edges are extremely blurry.  Looking for advice on how to produce a sharp border.  Thanks a million!

I recommend you use Illustrator for this.

Have you tried using Layer > Layer Style > Stroke?

If I recall correctly Photoshop CS6 didn’t have Shape Layer Strokes, which would provide a superior result.

When you add a border in CS3 or later, the selection is feathered, which is what you are calling blurry. One thing you can do is to change the contrast of the selection to 100% before you fill it.

This was not true in CS2 and earlier.
