Bridge Automatically Adds Photo Keywords to My Panel – How to Stop It?

If I open a photograph in Bridge that has keyword it copies all the keywords to the keyword panel whether I want it or not. Is there a way to prevent Bridge from copying keywords?

Are the unwanted keywords in italic text?

If so, this indicates that the keyword is "non-persistent" and is in the file, but not stored in the Keywords panel XML library.
