Brush blend Mode Keeps Changing to Pin Light

Hello,

My brush blend mode (the one found beside opacity) keeps changing/ defaulting to Pin Light.

I keep encountering this issue most likely as I'm accidentally pressing a shortcut that changes the blend mode. I don't think it's the brush default.

I am aware that Shift+ and Shift-  scrolls through these modes, but i'm definitely not pressing those key combos. Also, it's not a random mode that it lands on. It's always Pin Light.

Does anyone have any idea what could be doing this as it's quite annoying. If I know what key combo i was doing to make it happen i'd try to stop doing it.

Regards

shift-alt-Z would be the shortcut for the Blend Mode »Pin Light«, could you be mis-pressing keys when trying to undo some operation/s?

I have almost the same problem ...except I keep accidentally selecting the 'hard mix' blend mode for my brush.  Very annoying and as other's mentioned it cannot be changed.  Not sure why photoshop does not allow certain default shortcuts to be changed but it can be very frustrating and time wasting .  At the very least allow they should allow the user to disarm it. You also can't give it to something less  disruptive because p'shop does not allow you to give shortcuts to any other process or tool that contains  alt/shift/character . or if it does i've never been able to find one.

The shortcut for Hard Mix should be shift-alt-L, which shortcut are you trying to use?

But I concur that Photoshop’s mishmash of customizable and non-customizable shortcuts seems a bit »mystifying«.

Yup, shift-alt-z it is. It happens with the clone stamp too so I imagine it's more than just a brush setting.

I have my left hand permanently stuck to that side of the keyboard for undos and other shortcuts. It's the ctrl-alt-z for undoing more than one step that i have certain muscle memory for. Perhaps it's the muscle memory from using other programs that is sneaking in and making me use the shift from time to time.

I've got to retrain my hand.

Thanks for clearing that up. it was quite annoying.

I've been looking in the keyboard shortcuts menu to see if I can turn this off but i'm not having much luck.

    Any suggestion?

Does it happen when you select a specific brush?

What have you done for trouble-shooting so far?

Resetting the Tools and if that fails Restoring Preferences (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved) might be a good starting point:
