Brush Import from CS6 to 2024

I'm Trying to import my CS6 tool presets into 2024. In CS6 my presets worked with every tool. Now they are "assigned" to the exact tool. IE. I have a tool called "hair". It's a simple 2 PIX brush I use for brushing and Rubbing. I imported my brushes and all of the brushes are assigned to a specific tool. Is there a way to import old brushes into 2024 and they work with all of the different tools?  I hope that makes sense!!

That didn't work.  I might have imported them wrong.

You don't need to import the brushes. In fact — and this is just my opinion — I don't think that is the best way to move your brushes between version.  The brushes exist as .abr files on your drive so all you need do is copy them to the new version.   On Windows I don't even do that.  Instead I place the .abr files in a My Documents folder, and place a shortcut to that folder in the presets folder.

If you hold down CMD key while selecting a preset it will force Photoshop to keep the current tool.
