Brush Mark is Smaller than Indicated Brush Size

I am using Photoshop 22.2. The circle indicating the brush size is much larger than the actual mark made. How can I get them to synch up?

Are you using a pressure-sensitive stylus? If you’re using brush settings that are set to control stroke width using pressure sensitivity, then the brush stroke fills the entire pointer circle only when you are painting with full stylus pressure. A light pressure stroke will leave a much thinner stroke.

That's the key question.  Unless the preset is anything other than fully hard.

A 100% hard round preset will completely fill the cursor whether you use mouse or tablet.

What version of macOS do you have?

In addition to what Dave wrote above, go Apple>System Settings>Accessibility>Display and make sure the Pointer Size is set to Normal

What setting do you have in Preferences > Cursors > Painting Cursors ? Try it at 'Normal Brush Tip'
