Brush no longer working correctly

The brush I was using suddenly (and subtly) changed the way it looks without me actually touching any brush settings. This also seems to have affected every other brush.

I'm not sure how to describe the change but it's screwing me up so hard because of the loss of line weight variation. I tried looking it up and I can't figure out what the problem is.

ive attached two examples of the problem: the above line is the original one, brushstroke below it is how the brush looks now. As you can see, there's a HUGE loss in sensitivity and my ability to create sharp, delicate lines.

    I actually reinstalled photoshop and resrt all my presets before making this thread and doing those tests, it did not help.

    Reinstalling does not reset Preferences.

    My guess is that it is something like the layer or brush blend mode set to Dissolve, or you are actually using the Pencil.  Resetting the Tool or Preferences would take you back to the defaults.

    Hi Sahil,
