Brush not working in Select & Mask

   Yesterday all was well as I used S&M to edit color to a B/W photo.   Today the brush tool does not work at all.  To my knowledge I changed nothing.  I can still edit with the brush in the regular work space.

   My mode remains set to RGB color.

  PS 25.12.0   Win 11

Hey, @lanecito. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. Before troubleshooting, please update Photoshop to v26 via the Creative Cloud desktop app. 

Does this happen when you use any image? Please share the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > upload & attach here. 

 

Press and hold the ALT key in the Select & Mask workspace to change the Cancel Button to Reset. Once you reset, relaunch Photoshop and check if it helps.

Hi  @mention

   Very interesting!  Apparently I had updated to 2025 four days ago.  But I continued to open 2024 which was pegged to my taskbar.  Once I had opened 2025 and imported my photo from LRC,  Select & Mask worked fine!
