Brush Opacity & Flow hotkeys keep switching

Photoshop CS5

For whatever reason the hotkeys for controling brush opacity and flow switch randomly, and its a bit frustrtating in my work flow.

For the hotkey for Opacity will atlernate between 0-9 and shift + 0-9

The hokey for Flow will alternate between 0-9 and shift + 0-9 as well

One project I will be used to useing shift + 0-9 to adjust the flow, but in the next document it will alter opacity instead.

Anyone know what may be causing this?

Check to see if the airbrush mode is enabled in the tool options bar when the shortcuts switch.

Having the airbrush mode enabled will cause the opacity and flow shortcuts to switch.

This has to be a bug. I can't for, any reason understand why anyone would think that this would make sense and should be a feature.

I use a gamer keypad, a Razer Tartarus that I have macro keys set to adjust flow on a brush. Once airbrush mode is on those macros go out the window with my workflow. I don't adjust opacity, I only use flow as do many other retouchers.

hi aglyons! I've just bought my razer tartarus and wonder how to do a macro to set things like flow and opacity in photoshop. If you could give me a tip I would really appreciate! cheers!

Hey just wondering, has anyone found a way to disable this, whether built in or through some third-party solution? I find it incredibly annoying and incredibly useless and I often have a few strokes down before I realize my opacity hasn't changed and it really messes up my workflow. Frankly I don't see the point of them switching. I'd still like to be able to use airbrush, but it'd be nice to have num=opacity and num+shift=flow permanently locked that way. Any ideas?

To add to the previous post: if you are using a custom brush that has "Build Up" turned on in the Brush panel, this will also enable Airbrush Mode and switch the # and Shift+# keyboard shortcuts.  Hope this helps!
