Brush smoothing is grayed out in Photoshop

so, i can't use my smoothing setting for my brush. it's grayed out and i cant click on it. does anyone know how to fix this? it's very important that i can actually use it. hope ya guys can help.

Its in dutch but youll probably recognise the placement

As the Brush Smoothing is grayed out in Photoshop, could you please let us know the version of Photoshop and the Operating System you're working on?
