brush tip preview

Hello, Sometimes when I use the brushes the tip shows, such as the actual brush, and sometimes it doesn't.  As you can see, the settings to show the tip is not available on my screen.  The first pic is off of a website, which sometimes appears like that on my screen, and the other two are from my computer.  Thanks for any tips.
