Question

Brush tool painting in white only

I  have never had something like this happen before, despite using photoshop since the 90s. When I paint, with the appropriate color selected, the brush paints white. Now it even has outlines of yellow and red. I have my mode in RGB,  blend normal, no adjustment layers (got rid of them, no difference. Restarted twice, updated the program, getting rid of the old program, Nothing works.

Here is an image of what is happening.

Have you reset the Tool and if that does not work the application Preferences (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved)?

Could you please post a screenshot with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Channels, Options Bar, …) visible?

Thanks so much for your swift response, I had reset the tool, and reset preferences. I did find the problem. I had checked the blend mode in the layers panel, BUT, didn't know that the mode in the tool bar on top was switched to hard mix. Wondered if there was something like that because of the weird edge colors around the white.

So appreciate this, thanks again.
