BUG: Duplicating A Layer Has Content Disappearing On The Canvas

Explorer ,
Jan 08, 2025 Jan 08, 2025

In the layers panel, when you drag a layer onto the + sign/create a new layer icon to duplicate it, the layer's content disappears from the canvas.

I do not know if this is intentional or a bug - but this is NEW behaviour and is - to my mind - an AWFUL glitch in one's workflow. Bad move if intentional....

Running Sonoma 14.7.2 and Photoshop 26.1.0

Try resetting your preferences. It's not happening for me and it's not new behaviour. What happens if you use the keyboard shortcut, cmd + J to duplicate the layer?

Melissa thanks for your reply - but this behaviour (and maybe I wasn't specific enough) is happening when you drag the layer itself. When you let go of the layer with your mouse - it re-appears.

I see what you are talking about now. When you drag the layer if it's visible, the image in the layer disappears on the canvas while you decide to create a new layer or throw the layer away, temporarily hiding it until you choose. Yes, it's doing this on my Mac too. I don't see an issue with the behavior but I normally use a keyboard shortcut to duplicate.
