I upgraded to PS 23.4.2 about a week ago. Since then, the crop tool within the app would not work, (not the RAW file cropping feature). When I select the crop tool inside the app, no white indicators appear over the image and nothing happens, i.e., can not crop at all. I then found a work-around in the Community, and removed my PS preference list, letting PS create a new one.
After I restarted (with new preferences) crop seems to work OK, but now I no longer have the selected object grab bars to resize anything. This feature has always been there prior.
Also, the 3D items in the top menu bar will not turn off or disengage. When I try to use the normal selection icon, something from the 3D menu appears instead. So when I try to just do a selection of an object, a funky 3D feature screws up my object. I can't figure out how to turn 3D off. I've never used it.
The system seems to stutter now. It did not do that before this version.
I may have forgotten one or two more buggy things, but will report them as I find them. Note that PS ran perfectly until 23.4.2.

"but now I no longer have the selected object grab bars to resize anything"
Do you mean when using Crop tool, Free Transform (both works fine) or you do not see transform box around object for what you must have Show Transform Controls checked (see screenshot below).

Hi @jubaea1 sorry you are having these issues. Have you tried rolling back to the previous version to see if that solves them for you?
It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.
Thank you,
