Question

?bullet points in photoshop

I am typing text in a photoshop document.  I used an * at the start of a line, now when I press Enter, it automatically begins the next line with an *

I don't want them there, but I can't delete them, and when I continue to press Enter they just keep coming up.

Can I get rid of them without starting over?

I have searched for an answer, but I keep finding that you can't do bullet points in photoshop, so I don't understand how to undo this.

I managed to delete the * by starting at the bottom and deleting the last * and backspacing to the previous line of text and repeating this until I just had one big block of text with no 'returns' .  I was then able to hit return without the * re-appearing.

I'm using Photoshop CC, latest update.  It only happened after I used the * at the beginning of 2 consecutive lines, not just the one.

I will stick to using bullet points where necessary by using Alt 0 1 4 9

Thanks for helping.

Which version of Photoshop are you using? I am running 25.5.1, and below are the results. If I’m not understanding correctly, could you clarify the actual issue you’re facing with some screenshot as requested by @c.pfaffenbichler

Could you please post screenshots with all the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Character, Paragraph, Options Bar, …) visible?

I don't think there are any panels that show this Christoph.  I tested it and had the same result as the OP.  If you drag out a box for Paragraph text, and make the first character you type a star/multiply/asterisk symbol, it becomes locked in place.  Every time you hit return a new asterisk will appear, and I could find no way to delete them.

You can see I have used Ctrl A to select all, but the asterisks were not selected.

I cannot reproduce the issue, but maybe that’s related to the non-english keyboard I am using.

I'm not sure if you can.  What you can do is select all of the text in the box — the bullet points won't be selected.

Copy (Ctrl c)

Make a new text box and paste.
