hi, i have a new MBP and wish to install Photoshop CS2 but i am having issues.
i am running OS X 10.9.4. Does anyone know how i can install it?
i can't really justify the price of the full new version of Photoshop for the amount i use it so the free old version is perfect for me. Unless anyone has a cheap Adobe alternative?
Regards,
Joe

While Adobe Photoshop CS2 was released in May 2005, its age may make it an appealing target to businesses -- as of the date of publication, CS2 is still an adequate product for most basic business needs and may be available second-hand for considerably less than the price of purchasing the latest version. Because there are few modern computer systems incapable of

Photoshop CS2 is not free. If you've never previously purchased the software then you're running a pirated copy.

"Photoshop CS2 is not free."
This argument has run for years!
On Adobe's download website they say:
If you don't tick the 'I accept' box you can still download and install and use the FREE to download software. You would have thought that should have been disabled if you don't tick the box.
I do have old legal copies of many CS2 programmes from my G4 professional editing days, and I have used the Adobe site to upgrade each one. I just opened a new Adobe account with new email address. You can't even register the product online anymore when the 'REGISTER' window comes up. I don't believe Adobe have or will challenge anybody who hasn't had a CS2 licence before and uses these FREE downloads.
I have been retired a long time and just PLAY on my MacBookPro using Windows 10 in Bootcamp. CS2 is very old but will give professional users a good idea of whether to upgrade and pay the new extortionate prices that Adobe now charge!

This isn’t just about Adobe challenging. In many countries most businesses can expect a software audit at some time, and with it the need to prove all software has a valid license. Even before we get into moral arguments about creative people who hope to build their career based on people paying them for their creative work, and encouraging them to start by stealing someone else’s...

Would installing Windows on my MacBook Pro get rid of it's operating system, OS or whatever it is?

No. That's the beauty of Parallels. It offers a virtual Windows environment side-by-side with your Mac operating system.
You launch the Parallels app on your Mac then launch Windows from Parallels.
You will need to separately purchase a full version of Windows 10 in addition to purchasing Parallels.

I have not used a Mac in years. CS2 is many years old I do not know if CS2 Mac will be able to run on a new mac. Cs2 may be 32Bit software and need an old Mac OS version or even a Power PC processor.

CS2 was written for PowerPC processors. When Apple switched from PowerPC to Intel processors in 2006, it briefly provided a dynamic translator called 'Rosetta' to enable PowerPC apps to run on Intel-based Macs. That arrangement only lasted a couple of years. The last ever version of the Mac OS X operating system to include Rosetta was 10.6.8 in 2009.
So, Macs have not been able to run CS2 for nearly 8 years.
The only way to run CS2 on a Mac now is by running the Windows version in a virtualized Windows environment such as Bootcamp or Parallels.

Even if I could run CS2, there are so many good time saving features and advances in CC, that CS2 would be like going back to an old 70s beater car.
