Can I Render Animation To VIDEO With A Transparent Background?

I have created a short piece of animation in Ps.  I need to render it to video for use in an Ae project.  I need to project the resulting Ae project so it needs to be high res/good quality video.  A GIF or PNG file will not work.  Is it possible to render video with a transparent background?

What  Dave has written is most video fie formats do not support videos with a transparent background.  Transparent backgrounds will be rendered a solid color like black,

You have two choices

1. In Render Video - Format , choose Quick Time and set Alpha Channel to straight unmatted.

2. If you don't have the Quicktime codec , then output as a PNG image sequence, again with Alpha Channel straight unmatted and import that to After Effects
