can not open the selected item because the file can not be found

Im not sure where I'm going wrong here, so I need your help.

Ive been using Photoshop on my macbook pro quite a lot recently. Ive worked on a few personal projects that have taken me hours to do. Ive been saving them as I go as PSD files to the 'T' drive as suggested by Photoshop.

Ive gone into photoshop today to open my files, but on every file i select in recent items, I get an error message saying 'cannot open the selected item because the file can not be found'. It appears to be doing this for every file apart from the 6 or so most recent files. It then removes them from my recent files page, and I can not find them at all now. Getting a bit frustrated, as I'm worried I've lost my hard work.

Any ideas?

You may have lost them. As well as saving regularly and incrementally, it's wise to save duplicate copies externally in something like DropBox.

Please help me with this issue....

I have all files that were to be published in couple of days and there's no way to again recreate them

Did you do a search for them on your computer? Maybe they moved after the last save.

Got the same problem with my Mac in work. Couldn't find any solution for this. From time to time, recent files just stop working without apparent reason. What's worst the same happens to some custom scripts in generator that save files and image processor. The other thing affected by this is export as function - you have to manually chose a folder to save a file in. Then after several hours of having Mac turned off everything goes back to 'working' state till the next time it stops.

    Have anybody found a solution?

Mac OS Version 11.1, all versions of Photoshop seem to be affected. Reinstallation doesn't solve the problem.

    It's still an issue.

So much for a subscription-based service that would give us more access to fixes and updates.

You haven't stated what your Photoshop issue is.

Thanks for your reply. I guess I just haven't been saving them properly.

I don't think that's accurate, that you're not saving them properly.

You either save it to a folder or somewhere and photoshop should, as it always has, recognize where that file was saved so it can be used in PS again.

Now, if you moved the file, then this message could understandably be prompted but I'm having the same issue and that is not the case. I'm saving to my folders, .psd, .jpg, etc. All of my files are throwing this prompt when I click to work on them from the Recent Items list.

    It makes no sense.
