Can only "Save As"

Even though I have unchecked the "Save As to Original Folder" every time I save a file it asks me to Save As. I have unchecked it and restarted photoshop. Is shows as unchecked, but it still wants to Save As. Am I missing something?

Hi Adobe/Folks,

I just did some searching on the other forums under the same issue elswhere and someone rectified it by removing the Suitcase Fusion plugin from Photoshop. I have just tried it and that seems to have fixed the issue. So if you are using Suitcase Fusion, I'm using Suitcase  Fusion 9, try removing the plugin for Photoshop and then see if the problem persists. Anyway I hope it stays that way. . .will let you know if I have any further troubles. The latest version of Suitcase Fusion has been problematic for us, we are seeing strange print errors also from it, in InDesign with certain fonts and now this weird problem it seems to be causing with Photoshop.

Hi Adobe,

I am having the same issue we are using Adobe Photoshop 2019 on Mojave 10.14 and 1014.1.

If i open a small photoshop file from desktop, make a change like adding a layer and save - first time is will just save as normal. If i now make another change, like turning off a layer moving an object any change for that matter and hit command-s to save, it will now prompt me to Save As. I fired up Adobe Photoshop 2017 and same behaviour - Adobe I think you have a problem with Mojave compatibility. I have tried it with all apps closed except Photoshop, i have tried working on the file from a server and the same problem occurs. This is a showstopper for productivity - Adobe please investigate.

    I am using High Sierra and it is happening, so it's not just Mojave.

    This happens when you change a file so that it can't be saved backed into the original format.

    Jpeg is a big example. It does not support layers.

    For example if you change the Background  Layer to a floating Layer 0, add layers or transparency, it will save as a png or PSD.

    If you use the crop Tool and do not check "Delete Cropped Pixels" then it can't be saved as a jpeg.

    In both cases, you would have to flatten the image from the Layer Panel menu before you could resave it as a jpeg

    Yes a step by step sequence  the steps you used and screen captures.   I have "Save As to Original Folder"  checked in my preferences.  Save works for me when its available.  Photoshop will switch from save to "save as" when some condition requires a copy to be save or a different file type then was opened because something was added to the document that is not support in the original file format.   Like you added a layer to a flat file type and the document now has layers.

    Yes, I am aware of all of that. That is not what is happening. I will be working in a photoshop file (psd) every time I save it, even after just making a small change like adding points to a path, it makes me save as. This was not happening in CC 2018 (or any other version).

    That is not happening on my I can add delete and change  layers in layered document and when I use Save the psd is saved without any dialog.  Here is what my PS system Info looks like.
