Can't clip Photoshop Adjustment Preset group to layer below

Hi - When I use one of the adjustment presets (e.g. Black & White/Soft Sephia) that come with Photoshop CC (25.9.0) it creates a group of adjustments. I would like to clip that group to the layer below. When I press the Option key (MAC) and move the cursor between the group and layer below I am not seeing an option to clip. I am assuming clipping a group is supported and I think I was able to do this before, but it is not working now.

Ungroup, then you can clip the layers to the base layer.

If you need to group things, then the base layer and the clipped adjustments can be within the same group.

Have we ever been able to clip groups?  I have never tried it so don't know.  I am unable to clip any groups to the layer below in the release and beta versions, but if you make the group a Smart Object, then you can clip it.

Hi - Thank you for the suggestion. When I convert a preset adjustment group to smart object the effect of the adjustment preset disappears. The resulting smart object can be clipped to the layer below, but it has no effect on the image.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
