Can't edit Smart Filters

Hi all,

I need some help to figure out how to edit Smart Object inside Photoshop v 26.

In short terms, my problem is that after i have applied a Camera Raw Filter on a Smart Object the usual workflow is to double click on the icon from the layers section make the changes you want while preserve the filter applied, and then save it. But instead of opening a new window with .psb extension it opens a jpeg image and i cannot save the changes.

I'm attaching a desktop video recording because I have no ideea what i'm doing wrong.

Thank you

That's what i tried to show in my video recording. When i double click on the Smart Object layer it doesn't open as a .psb file, it opens as a simple .jpeg file and i can't use the feature Smart Object offers.

Then your smart object has been created from an original jpeg.

A smart object is a PSB if it's created from within Photoshop, on an open file you're working on. But you can Place any file as a smart object. That placed file can be anything, including jpeg. That's what you have done here.

Hi,

To edit the Camera Raw Smart Filter (the one on your Smart Object layer) you need to double-click the name of the filter.

Actually i don't want to edit the filter. As you can see i have a jpeg image converted into a smart object and then i applied the smart filter. What i want is to be able to keep Camera Raw Filter settings and parameters and to change the image. For example i'm rendering a region and i need to replace parts of the existing image but i don't want delete the camera raw filter and then apply again.

I see.

When you double-click a Smart Object layer, it should open in the new tab as a .psb file.

However, you need to keep in mind that when you open a smart object, you won't see any changes you applied to it through Smart Filters (in your case, Camera Raw).
