Can't export SVG in Photoshop - Use Legacy Export As not showing

The option to export SVG has disappeared, which did happen before, but I just went into Photoshop > Preferences > Export and Use Legacy Export As, and it made SVG appear again, however there's no option to "Use Legacy Export As" inside "Export".

Legacy Export As is not available on M1.

 

That said, exporting SVG from Photoshop is not a particularly good idea to begin with. It's mainly used as a vector format, and an SVG is usually expected to carry vector content.

 

But Photoshop is a raster application, and chances are your SVGs from Photoshop will mainly be raster content. Photoshop can output vector data only in a very few special circumstances.

 

So the whole format is sort of "false flag" in Photoshop, and it serves mainly to sprea

But Photoshop is a raster application, and chances are your SVGs from Photoshop will mainly be raster content. Photoshop can output vector data only in a very few special circumstances.

 

So the whole format is sort of "false flag" in Photoshop, and it serves mainly to spread bad habits and bad/useless files. I suspect this is a large part of the reason it was removed.

 

SVG belongs in Illustrator, and Illustrator is what you should use to output SVGs.
