In Photoshop I regularly use one of the selection tools, then right click, select feather and adjust the amount of feather to make appropriate local adjustments. Yesterday this stopped working for me: the amount of feather is now stuck on 49.9 pixels. Can anyone suggest how I 'unlock' this feather setting allowing me to adjust feather as the case requires. I am aware of other ways of adjusting the feather but I find the method I customarily use to be quicker and more convenient.
If you can't change the numeric value, I wonder if maybe you have NumLock turned off. It's the top left key in the number pad on your keyboard. When it's off, you can't enter numbers.

I'm wondering if there may be something about the particular image that is preventing the feathering amount from being able to be set higher. Would you be able to post a screenshot that includes your full screen with the Layers panel?
You might also try resetting Photoshop's preferences:

Thanks, My system is running Windows 11 and PS 25.11.0
This problem has just arisen……. I have been using the simple right click / select / feather routine for quite some time.
It doesn’t matter whether I use the marquee tools or the brush / lasso tools they all have the same problem. It is not image dependant I have tried with other images.
See screenshot.

What version of Photoshop and Windows are you using?
Which Selection Tool are you using?
Does that happen with all the Selection Tools or just that one?
Perhaps a reset of the Photoshop preferences will correct the issue:

You're very welcome.
And, no worries. Guess how I knew that might be a possibility (definitely been there and done that). 😉
If you don't mind, would you mark my answer as correct so that others who happen to have the same issue can more easily find the answer? Thanks! 🙂
