I have recently started using Photoshop on a brand new iMac. As I am working in Photoshop and I save a copy of the file (.psd) in a specific location, when I go to that location to retrieve the file, it is not there. I cannot locate it by manually going to the folder or by opening a new Finder window and searching for the file name. The only way I am able to locate it is by opening Photoshop and pressing Command + O to open the file. Now several hours later the file does show up, but it is with a long delay. Any thoughts on why this is happening and how to work around it? It's obviously frustrating to not be able to locate and retrieve my files from the assigned location for several hours. I would appreciate help!

Hi Swil,
When you are on a Mac, the easiest way is to drag the title bar of your Photoshop document down a little to float it, then Cmd + Click the title bar. It will show you where it is saved. Click the folder to open it in the Finder.
If needed, once in the Finder, drag the folder to your Sidebar for easier access.
This is part of OSX and is not unique to Photoshop.

Thanks for the reply. However, the challenge I am having is not an issue with knowing where it is saved, the file doesn't show up in that location for hours. After a few hours then the file finally appears in the designated location. So, I don't need to know what the location is, I need to find a solution for why my iMac doesn't send it to that location for hours.

Hi SWiL,
Then call Apple. Your new Mac came with one year of Apple Support, and you can purchase two more years. If they can‘t solve it by phone, make an appointment at the Genius Bar and take it in to an Apple Store.
