Can't Paste Clipboard Contents When Crop Tool Selected

I found one other post on this from way back in 2018, where the OP said it had corrected itself, but I've had this issue now for several major and subversions.

 

If I have somehing in the clipboard, I create a New document which is automatically - and correctly - sized to the clipboard size. However, if I have the crop tool selected, I cannot paste into the new document. It doesn't matter if the crop grid is active or not, CTRL+V just doesn't work.

 

If I select any other tool, CTRL+V works as it should. It's really a pain to have to do this every time.

I had checked that, and Dell report no updates available. I'm always reluctant to manually update on OEM machines like this, especially with manufacturers like Dell, as you never really know what's going on.

 

However, it did show updates available for the WiFi Controller and audio. Inconsequential, you might think, but updating those has fixed the problem. I can now paste straight into any doc when the crop tool is selected.

 

I wish I knew how and why this has now changed. I appreciate the help, you mentioning the graphics driver promted me to update the other two, even though I'd normally only update such things if I'm having an identifiable issue related to them.

 

Oh well, all good now, thanks again.

Interestingly, now I'm paying attention, if I do CTRL+V, I see a different tool appear at the cursor point. It's not a tool I use, and don't see it in the toolbar panel/subpanels. That may be the issue, rather than anything else, and can be seen in the video. Any idea what that is? The only custom settings I have applied is the keyboard shortcut for saving i.e. SHIFT+CTRL+S. Everything else is default

Hi @JonnyOneNote , testing here on Win11 and am able to paste when the crop tool is selected.  Could you share a video of your workflow to see if we are missing something?

 

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.
