Can't print using PRINT command, only when using PRINT ONE COPY

HI,
I am using Photoshop 23.1.0 on an Apple iMAC Pro running BIG SUR 10.6.2, with 64 GB 2666 MHz DDR4 and a Radeon Pro Vega 64 16 GB video card.

My printer is an Epson XP-970, using the latest drivers and firmware.

Selecting Print... any number of copies, nothing is sent to the print queue.

If I use Print one copy, it automatically sends the job without any other modal box popping up and prints one copy of the image.

I have tried this with several images, PSDs. . JPGs.

I have 'cleared' the print settings as instructed by holding down the spacebar. I have deleted and reinstalled my printer drivers.

I have uninstalled PS 2022 and reinstalled it.

This used to work fine before the latest update.

Please advise.

MAC, reset printing system:

On your Mac, choose Apple menu System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners

Press and hold the Control key as you click in the list at the left, then choose “Reset printing system” from the menu that appears.

After you reset the printing system, the list of printers in Printers & Scanners preferences is empty.

Reinstall the print driver, only from the manufacturer, not Apple.

Here is some general Adobe info on printing problems,

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/troubleshoot-printing-problems.html

Simple reset: hold the space bar when you open the print window. It resets the print dialogs

if that doesn’t help -

Perhaps try resetting Photoshop preferences?

Resetting restores Photoshop's internal preferences, which are saved when Photoshop closes. If they become corrupt then various issues can occur.

Here’s some info on how to do that:

You may want to backup your settings and your custom presets, brushes & actions before restoring Photoshop's preferences.

Here is general info that:  Migrate presets, actions, and settings

It may even be time to reinstall Photoshop.

Use the Adobe CC cleaner tool to remove all traces first.

Uninstall Photoshop BUT make sure to choose the option “Yes, remove app preference”.

Once that process finishes, start the installation process and look into the “Advanced Options”. Uncheck “Import previous settings and preferences” and choose to “Remove old versions”.

I hope this helps

Everybody answering this question is over complicating the whole issue. Those solutions work when the situation warrants them. However, I had the exact same issue you are referring to where the "print one copy" option worked, but selecting the number of images, even 1, didn't work in photoshop. I resolved this issue by selecting "file/print" option in the menu bar and when the Photoshop Print Settings window opened  up I selected the printer I wanted to use, then the number of copies I wanted to print. After that I clicked the "Print Settings" box right next to "Copies" which brings up the "Print" windows for the actual printer I've selected. It's in this window that you want to make sure the number of copies you want to print match the number of copies that you selected in the Photoshop Print Settings window, and wa'la problem solved. As long as the numbers are different Photoshop's print commands won't even register your request for multiple copies, and the "Print One Copy" option will. After that, set them both back to 1 copy and you're back in the game until you need multiple copies again. The number of copies in the Photoshop Printer Settings windows and the actual printer's settings windows have to match. I hope this helps you and anyone else having this issue. Oh, by the way, I'm using a MacBook Pro so I can't say if this will work on a PC, but I'm sure I could.

It sounds like you're encountering an issue where your printer only responds to the "PRINT ONE COPY" command, but not the regular "PRINT" command. This can be a bit frustrating, but let's see if we can figure out what's going on.

The difference in behavior between these two commands suggests there might be a specific setting or issue with the printer software or driver. Here are a few steps you could try to resolve this:

  1. Check Printer Settings: Sometimes, printers have specific settings that might interfere with standard print commands. Make sure that there are no settings enabled that could be causing this behavior.

  2. Update Printer Drivers: Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause unusual issues. Check the manufacturer's website for your printer model to see if there are any driver updates available.

  3. Printer Software: If you're using printer-specific software, it could be that the software has its own quirks or settings that are causing this. Check the software for any updates or settings that might affect printing commands.

  4. Default Printer Settings: Make sure your printer is set as the default printer in your operating system. Sometimes commands can get sent to the wrong printer or to a virtual printer if the settings aren't correct.

  5. Print Spooler Service: If you're using Windows, try restarting the Print Spooler service. This can sometimes resolve odd printing issues.

  6. Test from Another Application: Try printing from a different application to see if the issue is specific to one program. This can help isolate the problem.

  7. Check for Error Messages: Look for any error messages or indicators on your printer or computer that might give a clue as to what the issue is.

  8. Consult the Manual: Sometimes, the printer's manual or the manufacturer's website can have specific troubleshooting steps for your printer model.

  9. Contact Support: If all else fails, reaching out to the printer's customer support can be helpful. They might be aware of specific issues or have more detailed troubleshooting steps for your model.
