Use save as copy. Due to changes in the Mac OS, Photoshop files that don't support layers, paths, and alpha channels need to be flattened, and the paths and alpha channels removed, or be saved as a copy.

This seems an UNACCEPTABLE alternative. You have to go into the save name and erase the word copy. It adds an extra step of annoyance. Can't they just put it back to the way it was?

Is that option there for both OSX and Windows? I was thinking that if it was changes to OSX that forced the change to Photoshop's file handling, then how could they give users the option to override it? I guess it comes down to you do this if you insist, but be aware you might be losing your work.

I think Windows users were »innocent« victims in this from the start; they suffered the changes just to maintain a uniform »experience« with what was necessitated by MacOS.
And subsequently the Preferences option should be available to them, too.
But I am a Mac user myself so I cannot check.

Read? What does it mean? Read?
Thank you though, that seems to help me, although I am not a MAC user and you gave me the MAC instructions. Once I woke up from passing out from the suggestion I would be a MAC person, I was able to figure out the Windows equivalent. THANX AGAIN!
