Can you turn on 'Align Edges' for the shape tool permanently?

Question

When drawing a new shape it seems that I have to check the Align Edges box in the options bar every single time if I want it to have nice crisp edges that align to the pixel grid.

Is there anyway to have this permanently turned on? I've had a look online and in my preferences but couldn't see anything.

Ok, it seems that if I check Align Edges in a new psd, it will stay checked. It's only when editing existing files where that wasn't done, that I have to check the box for each shape.

Still, wouldn't mind if there was a way of making it a default setting.
