I'm unable to add/select a camera in ACR preferences defaults. "Available cameras" is greyed out.

Rob are you trying to set this without a raw file open in ACR?

If you open a raw file from a supported camera , click at thr bottom to open the preferences, go to default and check 'override global settings for specific cameras' you should see the camera and be able to change the settings.

If you try and do it from the preference menu without a raw file open then it will be greyed out.

Did you check Override global setting for specific cameras?

Thanks - yes I did. The whole of the "Additional Camera" section is greyed out. I no longer have the R3, but I have two other cameras.

I have a Canon 5D MK II (previously listed in ACR) and a Canon R5.

Neither of them are visible in ACR.

I downloaded some sample files from the Canon 5D Mark II and Canon R5.

They both show on the Available Cameras list in Camera Raw 16.3 with Photoshop 2024 (ps ver 25.9) on a 2022 Mac Studio.

sample files from here:

Perhaps a reset of the Camera Raw preferences will fix the issue:
