Canon R6MII XMP sidecar files

hi question re/RAW files in Canon R6MII -specifically XMP files

may be more of a canon question but PS people may know.

so normally i import RAW files through a card reader to Desktop folder. CR2 or CR3 files show up and After I edit them the XMP sidecar shows up. for some reason with the R6MII camera the XMP sidecar loads immediately along with the RAW CR3 files.  trying to figure out how to turn this off as i can't quickly tell which file i edited. are either of these preferences related? (I also shoot Nikon RAW and all other cameras create XMP after editing) Im in 24.7.2 and Mac OS 12.7.3, latest RAW update.  THANKS for any help.
