Cant save gifs adobe photoshop 2025

In the newest photoshop version 26, I can't save file as gif using legacy "Save as". It takes ages to load file before you can click "Save..." button. I've waited more than 30 mins and still nothing, circle keep showing that something is going on but nothing.

Can you try converting your .mov file to another video format using Adobe Media Encoder or Adobe Express?

https://www.adobe.com/express/feature/video/convert

@jane-e How is this a correct answer? Are you a real person?

@defaultwfh33hxujeyg Read the thread, the OP confirmed the problem they were having was with Quicktime files which is why the correct answer was to convert the file.

As to your personal dig - please read the community guidelines before posting https://community.adobe.com/t5/using-the-community-discussions/adobe-community-guidelines/td-p/4788157

You're welcome and I'm glad this solution works for you! 😊

As to your second question, I am a volunteer and do not work for Adobe. Save for Web was released in PS 5.5 in 1999 — the same version that first enabled transparency. Adobe has kept Save for Web for those who need it, but have labeled it legacy and have said it will not be updated.

Yes, I converted .mov file to mp4 and now everything works as intended. Do you know if this bug will be fixed in the future?

mov and mp4 are container files. The actual video format is contained within the file e.g. the mp4 is likely to be encoded as H.264 which can be read by Photoshop and why converting has worked for you. That is why some files can be read and others cannot - it needs to be able to open the container and the codec to read the video format within it..

Okay I dig a little bit more and it seems photoshop have problems with .mov aka QuickTime files. It was reported many times on this forum.

It must be something with timeline, I checked now and it's very lagging when you move marker between frames.

Yes, I use Save for Web (legacy option). It happen to all files with timeline. I had no problems on version 25.11

Your screenshot shows that you are using Save for Web, not Save As. Can you confirm?

Also check to see if you are using these steps:

Is it all files or only the one file? There might be something in the file.
