Canvas auto "centering" when clicking on layers

Hello,

when I click on some layer name on Photoshop CC18, if the canvas was set in the "fit size" view on the full screen view with tooltabs, the image automatically "centers", every time. "Centers" because the image is not centered too: it's too in the right area.

I tried the same thing on CC17 and it works fine, no reaction when I click on layers.

Somebody know how to stop it? Is it a bug?

Very frustrating.

The workaround is to have the application frame on and use tabbed windows instead of floating windows. We're working on an update to address this issue in the very near future.

I hear ya! This is driving me crazy!!!!! That fix can't come fast enough. It didn't start happening to me till just a few days ago. Makes me just insane. I retouch images all day and that canvas needs to stay in place so I can get to the tools I need. And the app frame is not an option for me as I drag and drop many things from a server window in the finder as I work. Please fix this asap, Adobe!!!!

Same damm issue VERY VERY VERY annoying.

I draw a lot on multiple layer as if they where a lightbox.

Now this is drama!!

Is this a BUG or a new setting (preference)?

I am having this exact same issue with CC18. iMac (4K late 2015) OS 10.12.6

I have not been able to recreate the issue on the other mac in the office. (5K late 2017) OS 10.13

If anyone has a solution please chime in!!

Mac or Windows? I do not see that happen on my Windows system. Layers stay put and become the target layer when their name is clicked in the layers palette.

I forgot to mention my OS!

I'm working on a Mac right now. This is what happens: when I click on some layer on the layer panels the image canvas is always centering like that. It's so annoying when you grade an image and you need to have it somewhere else, it's always covered by some adjustment panel.

CC17 hasn't this issue.

From your screen capture the layer is not being centered the canvas position is being perhaps centered  if you look at the rulers  you can see the canvas x(00,y(0) has changed all the layers remain where they were. In Full screen mode the Canvas should be centered.  With View for on display though  You would think that   x(0) or y(0) would be on one of the images display area border.  In window you can see this is also not true there are boarders on all four side of the image.  To me it looks like in you first screen capture the canvas is not positioned correctly.
