Hi all,

I was trying to change the canvas extension color for the background to white. In my photoshop, default background extension color has set to black. Is there any way to change that default black color to white?

    Press X to switch foreground/background.

The standard way to set a background color is to click the background swatch in the toolbar. That brings up the color picker, where you set the color you want.

Changing the color of the pasteboard surround has no impact on the file itself, so that's not an answer. That's just how you want your workspace to look.

Anyone new coming to this post and looking for the latest solution check here. They've changed things in PS 24 which is absolutely backwards. Horrible.

    Hi!

Here's one way you can change the pasteboard that surrounds the document.

Select the Paint Bucket tool (G) from the Toolbox (it's nested beneath the Gradient tool). Select white as your  foreground color. Press-and-hold the Shift key, click on the pasteboard, and it will change to your Foreground color.

    Thank you. It was helpful.

Also, I found another way. Go to image>>canvas size>>canvas extension color and change the color as white. Then click add to swatches button.
