CC 2019 - Tranform bounding box missing

Good Morning!

I updated to CC 2019 yesterday and now when I use the transform tool, the squares on my image are gone.  I have "Show Transform Controls" checked and I still can't see them.  The only time I see the squares is when I use Warp.

I'm going crazy trying to get this figured out this morning.  Any help is greatly appreciated!!

In the meantime, go to VIEW > SHOW > LAYER EDGES

This gives a guide that will help until they patch the bug, hope this helps.

Easier fix If you go to View > Extras or (Ctrl +H).

This bug can’t be fixed with that solution. This is specific to the bounding box not displaying when only a CMYK doc is open. I’ve been able to reproduce the fix of opening a blank RGB doc and the box shows up. Extras did not help in this case.

I also found that  creating a NEW document, the cursor and box show up.

The problem persists with a legacy file though.  We have to open a modify

existing documents.  

My temporary solution is to use the previous version of the app.  Hopefully Adobe

will fix the bug so we can use the latest App version.

I can't see my bounding boxes nor the marquee selection tools while I'm outlining my desired areas. Really frustrating.

Not sure if you tried opening an RGB file first. That fixed it for me, and much less of a hassle than having to turn off GPU processing or restart.

Use CTRL + T to show bounding box again.

I accidentally presset ctrl+t while trying to hide the ruler and my bounding box disappeared.

This is not the issue. Ticking that box means that the transform handles are there all the time - including when you are NOT using Transform.

This issue concerns a problem where CMYK documents don't display the controls properly. Which is a bug. And which STILL has not been fixed by Adobe.

I had this same problem! I have use over one our to fix this problem.

My colleague just told me that try to work with RGB mode. It worked.

I have also put cross  to preferences -> general -> Use Legacy Free Transform.

That new program-versions include new or changed Features seems unsurprising.

People who refuse to read the »What’s new«.section of the help when upgrading are in no position to complain when the new or changed features cause issues for them.

The change of the Transform behaviour was based on a Feature Request.

At least one of the requests may have actually been for a pretty different behaviour (namely making »Maintain aspect ratio« sticky) but still …

The issue you described (that there was a difference between transforming in CMYK and RGB) would seem to be either a misunderstanding or a random malfunction.

Unfortunately all the things people say are only a temp fix and often require a restart of the software....

You will also notice you cannot set your zero grid point from the rulers as well.  and as for me it only happens in CMYK mode 😞

Adobe just needs to fix the bug.

THE EASIEST FIX I use is this ... if you open a small RGB document and make a text box (it should autofill with Lorem Ipsum)

then go back to your CMYK document... everything should work now...

but still ... UGH!  😐

I just went to Photoshop > Preferences > General > Reset Preferences on Quit as recommended here, but now my hotkeys do not work. Any suggestions?

yes... DON'T reset you preferences... that it only a temp fix... there is no long term fix YET... 😞 ... and you WILL lose and preference changes you have made... BIG PITA!

the trick it THIS!!! .... open a small RGB file... simply make a text box.... now go back to your (likely CMYK) file ... all should be good....you should get back your cross hairs for setting your 0,0 point if you noticed it was missing as well.... 🙂
