Question

CC not recognising copied DNG files

Hi,

So i had to convert my raw files earlier since my CS5 didn't support Canon 6d (mark1).

Now I'm working with High Sierra and PS CC, I copied some DNG pictures from my external hd but I'm not more able to open them after copying them. also the original file on the externald hd. Are these all now corrupted? How can this be possible?

Lost loads of good pictures there..

I am able to "preview" them by selecting the file and clicking the space bar. But when opening them i get the following message:

Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file.

same with Lr, etc older bridge

these files were my backup.. so the answer is no.

the funny thing is that they opened up normally on the external hd the first time. after this it corrupted every file i copied. all the files i copied, both the one on the external and the ones i took to the computer.

if they are corrupted how can they be visible in preview? (by clicking on the icon and pushing space bar)

Because preview isn't showing you the full raw data - only the small camera-generated jpeg embedded in the file.

Hi Donick,

We're sorry to hear that you're receiving this error "could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file", it seems that the files are corrupt. Could you send a raw file to us so that we can review it at our end?

Could you please try capturing a new image and open that raw file in Photoshop and see if it opens up?

Regards,
Sahil

Thank you for the quick reply!

So, here's what i remember doing the last time when the file got corrupted:

1:I used bridge to rate pictures, and copied them on my desktop.

2:The pictures opened normally on the first time (Photoshop CC 2017), I think i didn't save them but did some corrections in Camera RAW.

3:Because of some stupid reason, I liked the raw edits, so I copied them back on the external hard-drive

4:The second time i opened them, they PS didn't recognize them anymore.

Now, after updating to CC 2018 i tired the same thing again, but now this doesn't happen.

Still i end up with having corrupted files of my pics . several of them from the time earlier..

Here are two files: IMG_7893.dng was corrupted by this process and doens't open

IMG_7922.dng has not been copied nor done anyhting to since it was converted to dng in 2014

It seems that the files are not available to download, could you try sending them again?
