Change Colour

I am looking to change the colour of lightning that I made with my brush to be the same as the new text colour. However, whenever I try to change the colour through colour replace or the replacement tool with it set to the correct hex, it takes in the current lighter blue on the lightning so doesn't ever match the text. Is there anyway I can change the colour without it blending in with the older colour?

The Blue Channel seems to be black and white in the pertinent area so a Channel Mixer and a Solid Color Layer set to Blend Mode »Multiply« might work out.

    In my opinion those are unfit for serious work. 

    Could you please post a screenshot with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Channels, Options Bar, …) visible?
