Change default file format when saving image

I typically save my images as a png file. Recently, I saved a file as a Photoshop PDF format and now that is the default format, even after I save the file as a png. I reset my preferences but that didn't help. How can I change the default save format to png? Thanks!

When you do a Save As it remains in the last used format in the Format drop-down menu. Just select another format.

(or are you using Export?)

Thank you. I've been changing the format to PNG when I save the file, but the next time I saved a file, it reverted back to PDF. I should have done this before, but I ended up rebooting and it corrected the issue. Thank you for your response.
