Changing colors of entire image (background and objects within)

Hello all,

 

I was wondering if it is possible to take this image 

and edit the color scheme of the entire image so that it looks like this 

I want to preserve the resolution and dimensions of the first image but change its colors to the pink background and black and white figure and white text in the center. This would be for my personal iTunes collection.

 

I know there are various features such as the gradient overlay that can kinda/sorta change the overall colors in the image, but I have not found a way to make such a complete change as the one I'd like to make.

 

Any ideas would be very much appreciated!!

    It looks like the cover art for this well-known single is already easy to find online. Are you wanting to make one because the available art isn’t large enough, or as an exercise? Because otherwise your bottom image could already be used for your personal music library, just by removing the perspective to make it flat. And maybe using upscaling features to increase resolution.

     

    If you do want to make your own version, these might be the steps:

     

    Create a pink solid color fill layer. (Layer > New Fill Layer > Solid Color).

    Unlock the Background layer so you can move the solid pink layer behind it.

    Cut out the Goldfrapp and TRAIN objects into a layer separate from the graphics object.

    Invert the Goldfrapp/TRAIN layer (Image > Adjustments > Invert). Now it is white on black.

    Use BlendIf controls to drop out the black background of the inverted Goldfrapp/TRAIN layer (Layer > Layer Style > Blending options), leaving only the white parts visible over the pink background.

    Mask the graphic out of its white background (Object Selection tool in Lasso mode, then Layer > Layer Mask > Reveal Selection).

    Posterize the graphic layer (Image > Adjustments > Posterize).

    Yes, it is a popular release, but I wanted to make my own version of the cover because I can't find a decent resolution version of the pink cover. The white cover is the best available quality for this release, so I wanted to kind of keep things consistent.

     

    I will be following your instructions. I appreciate that you provided which tools to use.
