Changing forms color

Dear All,

I am coming to you with a question that have been puzzling me since yesterday.

I attach two files: the original one (black) and the transformed one (colored) obtained with another app.

I spend a long time in photoshop yesterday, trying to find a way to change the character in the picture from black to a specific yellow (#F9BD12) without any loss in quality and without any additional pixellisation. In the end, I just gave up and went back to my free software to do it.

My first guess was to use the paint bucket tool: I tried several time by varying the tolerance but nothing worked.

My second guess was to use the replace color tool (Image > Adjustment > Replace color). However, even when I asked for a specific result (#F9BD12), it does not end with the good color.

I am new with photoshop so I guess there is a very basic tool I am missing...

I hope one of you can help me.

Thank you in advance 🙂

I wonder though if this image might not also be available as Vector Data which might more easily be edited in Illustrator for example?

Thank you!!

It was available in vector indeed. I'll double check next time 🙂

Glad to know there is a way in photoshop though.

Have a good day!

Both the Paint Bucket Tools and Replace Color are, in my opinion, useless for serious work, for this kind of task especially.

As you have transparency anyway you can Cliping Mask masked Solid Color Layers to the existing Layer or split it into parts and apply the Layer Style Color Overlay.
