I have a photo that is in camera raw, and I can go through the motions of changing it to jpeg, but it won't keep it jpeg. Please advise.

When performing the "Save As" try changing the name of the file and confirm it's location.  I am wondering whether you are accidentally saving the file to a different location.

Workflow is simply the steps you are taking.

Have you done a "save as" after processing the file as a JPEG?  Generally, one will process their RAW file as a Jpeg or Tiff, and then perform a "save as" keeping the RAW file for future edits.

I open the photo from my desktop, then click open image. Then I "save as" a jpeg, close Photoshop, and look at the photo on my desktop, which is still a "camera raw. I'm so new I just don't know what I'm doing.
