Character Variants -- Standard Ligatures

My Photoshop is defaulting to Ligatured Type which I don't want.

Is there a universal setting somewhere that can permanently disable ligatures from Type layers?

Hi Nancy. There is a Ligatures button in the lower left corner of the Character panel. Is this what you are looking for?

Type > Panels > Character Panel

Yeah, I know about that one. I was hoping for a universal setting that disables Ligatures from ALL new Type layers so I don't have to do it manually for each one. I don't see anything under Preferences.

Thanks Nancy. This button is a sticky option for me. Whether it is on or not is respected for all future text layers or documents that I create.
