Hi everyone,
I am considering the ‘Photography’ subscription, which comes with the 100 generative fill credits per month. I have a couple of questions:
Thanks! 🙂

- When the credits run out for the month, I’ve heard that you can still use the generative fill, just at a much slower speed. Is this right?

That is correct.

The credit consumption rates are for standard images of up to 2000 x 2000 pixels. To receive the above-listed consumption rates, you must use the latest version of the software. Usage rates may vary. Plans are subject to change.
Adobe Firefly is evolving rapidly. The rate card will be updated as we add more features and services. We plan to offer higher-resolution images, animation, video, and 3D generative AI features in the future. The number of generative credits consumed for those features may be greater.

Thanks for the replies. Good to know it still works when credits run out
However, the info regarding how a credit is used is still unclear.
In the table it just says one credit is used for a "generative fill", but how is that defined? Is it when you select one of the generated options? Or is a "generative fill" any time you generate three choices out of which you can select one?

It's whenever you click "Generate".

Thanks for clarifying 🙂
It seems that will need to change in future. Not a great way to do things 🙂

It wasn't straightforward in the FAQ, hence why I asked for clarification.
It seemed crazy to me that people will be charged credits for generating each and every time, as a large amount will not be useable. How many times to you generate something and immediately go "yep, that's me done".
Rather, what should happen is, small previews should be generated free of charge, and only when you select one that looks suitable, should you be charged.
There's a good reason a great number of people think that the current method of Adobe's charging for Generative Fill is a rip-off. Because it is.
Like I say, this will have to change in the future, if Adobe wants money from people like me.
Anyways, like I said, thanks for the clarification - I'll keep my money, for now 🙂

@Kontrive Adobe isn't charging for Generative Fill - its included in your subscription plan. Yes you can buy additional credits if necessary. What helps in the end is writing descriptive, detailed prompts to control the expected outcomes from the service. If 100 credits is not enough via the Photo plan ($9.99/mo) then consider a different subscription.
Also other Generative AI models are comparatively more expensive per month for just the AI service, no Photoshop included.

Photoshop is already far too expensive. Charging for Genertive Fill credits on top of that is only acceptable to me if done via the method I described. Many others feel the same.
Currently, it can take many generations to get something useable. Trying to justify things by blaming the user for not giving a clear enough prompt is something that is cringe-inducing. I'd rethink saying that to people in the future. Seriously.
Anyways, of course there's no convincing someone who lives on the Adobe Community forum 🙂 But, thanks, and best wishes.
