Question

Click then shift no longer constrains brush

Today, I think just starting today, with the pencil tool selected, when I click and then press SHIFT it no longer constrains the mark to vertical or horizontal. It only seems to constrain if you press SHIFT first, then start drawing. This is a change and not effective at all for my style. Is there a way to set it back to the old way?

I'm with Jeremy, this is a terrible change to PS. I'm having to switch back to the previous version until this is changed as I can no longer draw as I used to. Why was this even changed?!

When I try what you're doing, it's working for me - UNTIL I try to draw some more and hold down Shift, again. Then the line does crazy things like jumping back to it's starting place (but drawing straight from there). Reminds me of an Etch-a-Sketch. What OS are you using?

I'm going to submit a bug report at https://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html - you may want to upvote it, or, since your issue is different somewhat from mine, start your own bug report there.

Here is what I am doing to test: draw freehand then release mouse, hold down Shift then click anywhere to draw straight line which connects clicked point and point where freehand drawing was interupted or stopped. Everything works fine.

Yes, that works like that, but not what I'm asking about. Like I used to be able to do, I want to be drawing, and while still drawing without lifting my stylus press the SHIFT key and have it constrain to a straight line.

I tried Resetting before posting. No luck. Yes, it makes straight lines if I hold down the SHIFT key first then draw, but I'm asking about when I start drawing freehand and then pressing SHIFT to constrain it to a straight line. Not asking about clicking between to make straight lines either, just the constrained drawing function. That changed and I want to know how to make it go back to the old way.
