clicking a Swatch while Stroke Color is open gets hijacked

If I open the Stroke color of a vector shape, and click on a swatch from the Swatches Panel, the Fill color is what is changed - not the stroke color - despite me having the dropdown for the Stroke color open.

Could you please post screenshots taken at View > 100% with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, …) visible to illustrate the issue?

»screenshots«, plural.

One screenshot may not exactly illustrate a process in full.

What have you done for all-purpose trouble-shooting so far?
Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:

Okay....

Step 1 - Draw or Select a shape.
Step 2 - Open up the Stroke's pallet.

Step 3 - Click a color in the Swatches panel.

Bonus: Step 4:

Hitting CTRL+Z to walk backwards does not revert the fill color to "None" but rather reverts the fill color to something else completely.

Mysterious indeed (and obviously not as intended).

Mysterious enough that I would recommend restoring the Preferences (after, like mentioned previously, making sure all custom presets are saved).

The process appears to work as expected here, please try some basic trouble-shooting.

Sorry, I had missed that in the original post.

The Swatches Panel does not apply to the stroke color, which in itself would be »curious« but not necessarily a bug.

That the recorded History is »malformed« seems like a proper bug, though, so please post a Bug Report to make sure the issue registers at Adobe.

What is the Swatches panel for if not to apply color where wanted?

LATEST

It is there, among others, to apply color to a Solid Color Layer. And that works.

Shape Layers are Solid Color Layers with Vector Masks; the vector Stroke is a (relatively) recent addition and has apparently been implemented somewhat »sloppily«.

So by all means report the Bug in order to make sure Adobe personnel is made aware.

But in my opinion the Bug is the nonsensical History, not the inability to change the Stroke Color via the Swatches Panel – the same Swatches are available in the contextual Stroke-Panel anyway.
