Hi

Either:

a. Make a mask from the selection

, or

b. Make a new layer below the image layer- fill the selected area and then clip the photo layer to it (Alt click in layers panel).

Thanks for responding. Can you articulate a bit more as I am a newbee and your response is somewhat cryptic?

Hi

OK - It is hard to judge whether someone is a beginner or expert. 🙂

Stick with option a.

A mask hides or reveals parts of a layer, according to whether the mask is black or white. So if you want the layer to show in the shape of your selection, with your selection made, go to menu Layer > Layer Mask > Reveal Selection. That will add a mask in the shape of your selection.

Hi

Option 1

Make your selection and then click on the layer mask icon2019-11-08 16_16_24-Window.png

Option two

Create a new layer below the image layer, mark your selection and hit alt + backspace to fill the selection and just alt click between the 2 layers
