clone stamping to High (texture) Layer behaving strangely in frequency separation workflow

I am using the Clone Stamp in a frequency separation workflow and it is behaving oddly.  It should just be cloning texture from the source area but instead, it is creating darkly saturated strokes when I paint.  Please see screenshot.  The source area is just a little to the right of the area indicated by the red circle where I am clone stamping.  Does anyone know why this is happening?  I am using an Action created by Earth Oliver for creating the FS stack.  Thank you.

You have the tool set to sample current & below when it should only be set to sample the current layer.
