I am trying to clone from one photo to another.  So I go to the source photo and click on the clone tool to get a sample then I got to the destination photo and start moving but I don't see the cross hairs on the source photo so that I can trace over the destination folder accurately.  What do I need to do?

Put the images in two layers in the same document, you should then be able to clone from one layer to the other by selecting an area of one then selecting the next Layer and cloning on to that layer

It is doable Derek, but you have to make the second document window active.  So select the source window and Alt sample the source point.  You then need to click once in the target window and you shoulf then see the contents of where you sampled in the cursor, after which you can start painting into the target window.

If you need to resample you have to click once in the source window to make it active.

Alt click to sample.

Click once in target window to make it active...

and so on and so forth.

I use the Window > Arrange shortcuts from the Mike Ninness Power Shortcuts video from MAX 2014 (it might have been 2016) in my primary workspace, and they are super handy.  I switch to Essentuals when I need to use FT > Step & Repeat.
